Cycling Event for Environment and Children’s Health

Sunday, August 14, 2016 marked the third annual Cycling for Environment and Children’s Health hosted by Cambodia Cycling and Asian Square Group. The charity cycling event aims to raise funds to support Angkor Hospital for Children and all proceeds from this event are generously donated to the organization.  The Angkor Hospital for Children is a non-profit organization in Siem Reap whose mission is to improve healthcare for all Cambodian children through free, high quality treatments, health and prevention programs.

Navutu Dreams Resort & Wellness Retreat is proud to be one of the sponsors of the fundraising event. Navutu Dreams shares the same belief that children’s health is very important for developing the country and for sustainable development. Moreover, we believe that protecting and preserving the environment is a crucial part of the social responsibility. Therefore, when it came to our attention that they would be running this charity event, we did not think twice about supporting them.  This charity cycling event would not be a success without the joint effort of around 700 participants with the involvement of the authorities, business establishment, private sectors, locals and tourists.

The cycling journey began at the Siem Reap Art Center Night Market on Sunday 14, 2016 at 7:00am. Bicycles were provided to all the participants at the center to get ready for a 17km journey. The route took the participants through the lush paddy fields which gave everyone scenic views of the Cambodian countryside. There were two stops: the first stop was after an hour ride to have some refreshments before everyone continued the journey, while the second stop made each team plant a tree in the local community.

Upon reaching the final destination, everybody was given a packed lunch by the Srah Srang Lake. Local and foreign participants spent the afternoon by resting and relaxing before everyone finally headed back to Siem Reap Art Center Night Market.
