Navutu Dreams Resort and Wellness Retreat is excited to welcome Delphine Vann! She will be teaching IYENGAR CLASSES FOR ALL LEVELS every Thursday at 10:00 AM. Read through to learn more about her and the practice of Iyengar Yoga.
1. What is Iyengar Yoga?
Iyengar Yoga is a form of Hatha Yoga in which there is a focus on the structural alignment of the physical body through the development of asanas. What is unique about Iyengar Yoga is that the practice of asana and pranayama emphasize precision and alignment, planned sequencing, timing and the use of props.
This approach has allowed people of varying ages, levels of health and fitness to enjoy the benefits which a sustained practice can bring – the ability to face the physical, mental and emotional challenges of contemporary life with strength, vitality, mobility, thoughtfulness and equanimity.
The discipline is considered to be a powerful tool to relieve the stresses of modern-day life, in turn helping to promote total physical and spiritual well-being.
2. Who is Delphine Vann?
Delphine started practicing yoga in her twenties, and tried various styles of yoga before making Iyengar Yoga her preferred choice. Since then Delphine studies every year with the family and followers of Yogacharya BKS Iyengar at their home in the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute in Pune, India, to further develop her life journey through yoga. She received the Junior Intermediate 1 certification at the RIMYI in Pune in 2019.
Delphine also has a family she deeply cares for and leads the NGO EYC – Empowering Youth in Cambodia (www.eycambodia.org), providing education programs for unprivileged children and youth living in slums areas.
She is grateful to her family, teachers, colleagues, and friends for enabling her to do what she loves the most.
