Angkor Marathon Siem Reap
Covering more than 300km of Northwestern Cambodia, the Angkor Archaeological Park contains not only the much photographed magnificent remains of the Angkorian civilization but also luxuriant and verdant forests. The world’s famous Angkor Archaeological Park has also been the perfect venue for different events in the country.
The Angkor International Marathon is an annual charity race that takes place in the months of August, December and January. This internationally recognized charity race is organized by Cambodia Events Organizer which raises relief for the victims of anti-personnel landmines in Cambodia. There is no age requirement to join the Angkor Marathon race and people from all walks of life can participate.
Angkor Marathon | A Charity Race
Attended by many locals as well as runners from around the world, the Angkor Marathon takes place around the Angkor Wat Complex and welcomes about 12,000 runners every year. The annual race aims to promote sports and tourism in the country and the proceeds collected from the race will be used to help local charities and organizations that work closely with the landmine victims.
There are three major marathons which take place at the Angkor Archaeological Park in Siem Reap every year.
- The Angkor Empire Marathon | August 6, 2017
The 3rd Angkor Marathon will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2016. You can run 10, 21 or 42 kilometers in the Angkor Empire. For registration, you can check here.
- The Angkor Wat Half International Marathon | December 3, 2017
The 21st Angkor Wat Half International Marathon will be held on Sunday, December 3, 2017. It is one of the most popular half marathons in the world. You can choose from five race categories: Half Marathon (21km), 10km Road Race, 3km Family Run, 21km Wheel Chair Race & 10km Artificial Arm/Leg Race. All the proceeds collected will go to social reintegration programs, and programs relevant to education and health. Check the registration here.
- The Ultra Trail d’Angkor Marathon | January 21, 2018
The 2nd Ultra Trail d’ Angkor Marathon will take place in January 2017. The marathon will give you options on the race: 16 km – Nordic walking, 16 km – Temple Run Angkor, 32 km – Jungle Trail Angkor, 64 km – Bayon Trail Angkor & 128 km – Ultra-Trail® Angkor UTA 128*.
